“Confuse your dreams with reality” That’s a ferocious phrase we’ve all heard before, right? What more could anyone want than to see their dreams come true? However, the path towards their realization is often tiring, dark and the very source of our discouragement. If you are struggling to achieve your dreams, here are some simple yet important tips.
Turn off the TV
Turn off the TV and make it no longer a habit. It kills your creativity and intelligence. Most people automatically turn on the television and watch the same programs every evening that only repeat the program from the day before.
In the time slot from 6pm to 9pm, in fact, originality is not required. Whether you think of Quotidien, TPMP, Chasseurs d’appart or something else, the shows follow one another and are similar, without renewal. Missing one should not produce any errors.
Remember: broadcasts exist only for the advertising spaces that mark their duration.
The stupidity of the whole thing is staggering when we take a step back from what we are ingesting.
Let go of your smartphone
Put down your cell phone and turn off the Internet. Hyperconnection and an overabundance of information destroy our ability to concentrate and remember important things.
The smartphone, if it wants to be intelligent, reduces your capacity for reflection and analysis. This incessant flow of news and publications creates a feeling of urgency and a feeling of lack for those who do not know how to regulate their use.
I’m not necessarily an example in this area, but I’m working on it. I’m learning not to systematically reach for my phone every time I move and not to keep it nearby all the time.
Go out
Go out for a walk and take some time with yourself. Walk, run, bike, or whatever you want, but take the time to talk to yourself.
If we cultivated this habit perhaps there would be fewer people among psychologists. We have some internal conflicts and wounds that we could resolve simply by talking to ourselves.
We find all kinds of escapes and distractions (like the ones listed above) to escape from ourselves. However, we must know how to face these moments of loneliness to move forward.
Think. Imagine. Create. Finding yourself alone, without having anything planned in your agenda, without running in all directions, will unleash your creativity, which is suffocated or lost in an overly hectic daily life.
Change your lifestyle
Do you wake up tired every morning? A loss of tone is never normal. Never!
Your body speaks to you in many ways. It’s about knowing how to listen.
Tiredness, lack of concentration or creativity, faltering morale: in most cases these symptoms are connected and result from an inadequate lifestyle.
Adopt habits that energize your life: healthy eating, good night’s rest, limiting sources of stress and doing a little sport.
Going to bed earlier is truly beneficial, yet most of us struggle to do so. We postpone some activities until the evening or let ourselves be carried away by a television program. Have you also noticed that evening programs start later and later and are interrupted by increasingly longer advertising spaces? You have to be motivated to watch TV!
Be spiritual
I’m not referring to your particularly developed sense of humor but rather to spirituality.
Do you nourish your body? It also nourishes your mind and soul.
Avoid junk food, choose your foods carefully. Which book will you begin to nourish your intellect? What training? What friends will you invite to strengthen you spiritually and intellectually?
What morning routines could help you start your day better?
Every morning I like to take time to meditate, pray, read the Bible, read a video or an inspiring text. I get up earlier because of this and this has significantly changed my days, my character and the turning point of my life.
Provoke meetings
There are people who inspire you, others who aspire to you! Build your relationships intentionally. Some people lead you to criticism, mediocrity and self-pity. They are toxic to your development.
Also, don’t think that you are developing deep relationships with them. They revolve around you only for your attentive ear.
There are people who inspire you, others who aspire to you!
I was in a relationship like this a few years ago. I worked with a team and in each of my meetings with one of its leaders, he spent his time complaining about the other members, what he had suffered with them, the difficulties in making himself heard, etc.
At first I felt sorry for him. I listened to it. I told myself I could be the one to bring him up.
It’s much easier to pull someone down with all your body weight than to lift them up… especially when they resist with all their will.
This relationship has become toxic. During our discussions, our evenings, his negative thoughts ended up contaminating me. I ended up harboring my own bitterness towards some members of this team. One misinterpreted word, one misunderstanding, one look and we end up finding an echo in our lives of the story we were told.
By the time I realized all this, the damage was done. My heart and thoughts were contaminated. I decided to stop listening to this person, without rejecting him, and guess what happened? I never saw her again. Not a word. Not an email.
The realization of one’s dreams is only the result of a well-ordered life and precise actions guided by a real will.
These simple choices, these very small actions should help you move forward. Of course, that’s not all. It is then necessary that every one of your life choices, every one of your actions, goes in the direction of your dreams.
