All systems and control units in the car are controlled by the on -board diagnosis and the interruptions are stored in the memory memory. Since 2004, each new car has had a so -called OBD2 gate in Europe, through which you can read this and check most of the functions of your vehicle. To do this, you don’t necessarily have to go to a seminar. With an appropriate adapter and an OBD2 app for your smartphone or tablet, this is also easy at home. In this article we present various tools for iOS and Android and show which data you can read with it.

1. The best OBD2 apps for the smartphone and tablet at a glance

1.1. OBD2 app pair: better than the on -board computer

The couple is one of the best known OBD2 apps and even provides more information than the real on -board computer itself. In the main menu, it is already possible to provide more than thirty basic settings, including, for example, information on the move or weight of the vehicle. There are also various calibration or actions functions such as reading and eliminating errors’ archive.

At the center of the app is the dashboard based on the main screen of an iPhone. The displays can be arranged as desired and, if necessary, overlap.

Large diagnostic functions

Good to know: You can use the «all date» widget to view speed, acceleration, engine load, speed, consumption and strip of the accelerator in real time. Because of small advertising and writing, you should rather leave it to the passenger during the trip

The Lite version of Torque is available for free for iPhone, iPad and Android and has already brought numerous advertisements and management functions. It is possible to get even more plugins and widgets to the Pro version for 3.55 euros an update. This allows not only to save more power data and integrate Google Maps, but you are also spared from annoying advertising.

1.2. App Carly Obd2: more than a simple diagnostic program

The Obd2 Carly app makes significantly more than the diagnosis of pure edge, since the tool also reads the specific functions of the vehicle and manufacturer and further develops them. According to various studies, about a third of all used cars, the status of the speedometer is «in style» in order to increase the sale price in this way.

Good to know: Carly is available in special editions for some producers, e.g. BMW, Porsche, VW or Mercedes.

Carly helps you discover these manipulations by comparing other stored kilometers (as usual in most modern vehicles). If it has been mistreated at the speedometer, the app plays an alarm. Also, you can also use the app Turn on or deactivate the functions in the vehicle («code»)including the automatic signal and the start-stop warning sign, for example.

Is your car your sanctuary? Carly’s protection function always knows where its vehicle is located and generates an alarm if someone should go to work. The App Carly for iOS and Android can be downloaded for free from the respective shop. However, it only works with the internal ELM327 adapter, which is far from a deal for just under 60 euros.

1.3. BLUEDRIVER OBD2 scan tool: powerful with a wide range of functions

THE BLUEDRIVER OBD2 scan tool It is a powerful diagnostic app of vehicles with which you can read the car codes from your smartphone or tablet and eliminate errors. The software works both in Android and iOS and can be obtained free of charge by the manufacturer or the respective App Store. For use, however, the associated Blueedriver adapter is also necessary, which costs about 100 euros. You will also get all kinds of things for the price.

After the execution of the scanner, the app shows the result as a list. If errors have been found, the associated code is shown as a connection.
